Blue at Altitude

Sometimes you don’t have to go far for beauty. I mounted my tripod right outside my door at the Far View Lodge and clicked away for 4 hours at 8200 feet. The 10.5mm lens captures the blue waves of long duration star trails – reminding me of a ripple of water across a still pond.

I also tried an HDR technique on establishing shots I took at different ISO values to see if I could generate an HDR Milky Way shot. I’ve never really studied Milky Way photography, as this is its own specialized craft, but It’s fun to dabble and maybe something I’ll explore in depth one day.
